- 21 October 1984
- Niki Lauda becomes the World Motor Racing Champion for the third time.
- 19 December 1984
- Britain signed an agreement to return Hong Kong to China in 1997.
- 13 July 1985
- Live Aid the largest live concerts in UK and US.
- 01 September 1985
- The wreck of RMS Titanic is discovered off Newfoundland.
- 28 January 1986
- Shuttle Challenger exploded 73 seconds into launch.
- 26 April 1986
- Number 4 reactor overheats at Chernobyl and explodes causing the World's worst nuclear accident.
- 20 January 1987
- Terry Waite is taken hostage in Beirut.
